Soon holiday cards will start overflowing mailboxes, most of them beautiful and filled with heartfelt messages from our loved ones. Make them a part of your festive decor.
Here’s some simple tips to put your season’s greetings on display:
- String yarn, ribbon, or garland across a wall or entryway and attach with tiny clothespins (available at any craft store)
- Hang ribbon from a wall or door and attach with tiny clothespins, paperclips, or tape
- Fill a large decorative bowl or basket on your coffee table for everyone to enjoy
- “Frame” your door with cards by taping along the edges and corners going all the way around
- Attach to a large memo board
- Fill a box underneath your Christmas tree
- To display on a shelf or mantle, use large jingle bells as the “holders” by inserting into the grooves in the bell
How do you display your holiday cards?

I usually tape them around my doorway into my kitchen so that when people pass by they can see them. I love the idea with the tiny clothespins and might change it up this year and create this.
Ooh, I like the jingle bell idea–that one is really clever. I have done the framing the doorway one and also the hanging with clothespins, but I do favor keeping them in a nice basket so everyone who comes over can sift through them and enjoy them. I also have to say that I always just seem to expect photo Christmas cards from everyone now and get disappointed when I get a card that either doesn’t have a letter or photos included. I like the updates and photos every year!
I tape them on the doorway or entertainment stand. I like the decorative bowl idea! Sounds like the least amount of effort.
I use those photo “tree” thingies… I’m at a loss for the right word! They are the metal photo holders with multiple “arms” that can bend and that hold photos. They work wonderfully for our Christmas cards and photos. We have them on the mantle. =)
