Our Elf on the Shelf- Chazz Star- will be making his annual visit to our home soon. As the story goes, he watches over the children and reports back to Santa every night. In the morning they will search the house to find where he landed next.
I usually wait until the week or two before Christmas before inviting Chazz to “make his appearance”. Mainly because it can be tricky finding new spots every morning (AND to remember to move him… this is important.)
Thankfully, the kids believe and play along and say goodbye to him on Christmas Eve until next year. It’s a fun tradition we have in our house. And he is a cute little houseguest.
Do you have an Elf in your house? What did you name him? What are some of the best places the kids have found him?

no elf here as the oldest was scared of Santa Claus breaking into our house when she was little, I couldn’t even imagine if she thought an elf had free access in and out.
Actually, we had this tradition when I was growing up — long before the book came out. Thus, Linus had been assigned elves back when he was only a twinkle in daddy’s eye.
Our elves (yes, we have a set of twins b/c someone knew how crazy he’d be) look slightly different then the ones in the book but he absolutely loves them.
This year, he was finally old enough to give them names. He came up with the names Feather and Tough all by himself. I think they’re perfect.
Merry Christmas, Steph.

Our elf’s name is Mipsy. He often gets moved in a panic at 5 AM, just before kids start waking up – it is tricky to remember!!
That is the cutest idea ever. And adding to your awesome tradition is that your elf is very adorable. I wish I could go back and include that in our family Christmas traditions. How fun it must be for the kids to find him every morning and it must add so much excitement to this magical time of year.
My 3 year old named our elf Kaypoo. Even the 1-year old enjoys spotting him.
He’s been spotted on the stairs, on window sills (even in the bathroom) on the chandelier, and on top of the kitchen cabinets, even in the Christmas Tree.
After reading it I thought it was highly enlightening. I value you bothering and energy to put this post along. Just as before I find myself wasting way too much time both browsing and also leaving comments. Although so what, it had been even now worth it!
