Eco-friendly gift wrapping for the holidays

I can’t even remember the last time I bought a roll of wrapping paper. I am determined to stick with my simple giving goal this year especially when it comes to gift wrap.

Tips to keep it simple with your gift presentation:

Leftovers are the best.
Use wrapping paper, tissue, and gift bags leftover from last year. Sounds kinda basic, eh? But, it’s so tempting to buy new every year. If you must wrap, use what you have first. It’s the responsible thing to do.

Bags are practical.
The bag the gift came in might work with a little embellishment… ideal with brown or white paper bags and decorative gift bags some stores give during the holidays. Add yarn, ribbon, stickers, sparkles, buttons, (nature items like pine cones, sticks) whatever you have to decorate!

Let the wrapping be a gift, too.
Shopping totes and baskets are great to put presents in. Re-usable is always appreciated! Ecobags has a great set of 3 eco-friendly embroidered bags ideal for gift giving. They even have a wine tote! Love that idea.

Scraps are cool.
Be different and go the newspaper route but choose a cool section of the paper- the sports page for sports fans, etc. Use past year’s Christmas cards to cut out for tags or decoration. Grocery sacks used inside out or random scraps of paper put together can be decorated any way you want- also fab for kids to get involved and color, paint, and stamp their hearts out.

How do you wrap your gifts?
