Have a Sleepover With Your Kids!

What’s stopping you from planning a fun family sleepover with your kids? Next time the weekend rolls around and your kids complain that there’s nothing fun to do, break out the sheets, toss in a frozen pizza, and call for an impromptu family camp in. You’ll surprise the heck out of your family, and who knows how the evening will turn out!

Here are some suggestions to get you started, and where you’ll end up, nobody knows!

Sleep Gear
Grab all the blankets and pillows in the house, toss ‘em in the family room, and start building. Use chip clips or clothespins to clamp sheets together or tie them to furniture to create your sleeping quarters.

Food
Eat whatever you have in the house. Frozen pizza, mac ‘n’ cheese, cold cereal, ice cream—make it a potluck dinner and go with it. Kids really don’t care that much about food. And if you’re eating underneath the fort, even better.

Music
Get out the tunes and dance with your kids. They can teach you some of the latest moves and you can teach them the uh … well, never mind. Just get your groove on!

Movies & Games
Choose a family movie to watch – Elf, no matter what time of year, is a great classic! Or break out some board games you never get to play. Chutes & Ladders? Clue? Even Chinese Checkers or Uno are fun for everyone.

Snuggle Time
When it’s time to get cozy and into your tents, invent some creative word games or start quizzing your kids with make-believe questions: “If you were a pirate on a desert island and only had one type of food left in the world, what would you want to eat?”

Snuggle up tight and enjoy lots of cuddles! You can learn loads about your kids under a blanket in the dark with just a flashlight and the giggles.

Recovery
When you wake up in the morning, take the whole family out for breakfast. And whether they need it or not, call for a mandatory afternoon nap time later … you’ll need it!
