Remember paint-with-water books? I found a Hello Kitty one at Target the other day and we’ve enjoyed “painting” in it. It’s my kind of craft; I honestly hate the mess of anything involving glue or paint or Play-Doh.
But then I started to feel guilty- the kids love to use paint brushes and such a shame it’s only water. So I thought I’d give washable paints a try. It really wasn’t that much of a mess at all. Of course, supervision is recommended. So what if they get paint on the table or their clothes? It does wash out.
Tip: prepare a drying area ahead of time to store wet projects.
If only crayons are allowed in your house, maybe give the paint with water a try. And then think about moving on to the big paints . It really is fun. You might even find yourself painting at the table with no kids around, too.
What’s your favorite way to do arts & crafts with your kids?

I am the same way – even paint with water paints can make a mess! And playdough in the rug – ugh. And markers (shudder) I don’t care if they are washable I hate having to wash everything. But I know it’s my issue so I may an concentrated effort to say yes to my almost three year old about those things. At least once in awhile.
Some days? I just can take it. But if I am feeling it? I try to offer!
Huh? I didn’t know that there were some art supplies actually not allowed in some homes? LOL
I was allowed to use every type of craft supply possible but my mom had a rule that we had to take it outside. I’m thinking about this now for the first time. She was smart.
All the surfaces in our home are kid friendly so I don’t see this being a problem. Washable markers, washable paints and lil’ dude can have fun when he’s older! Magic Erasers are magical indeed…
