Must read Memoirs

I bought Bossypants by Tina Fey last night to read on the plane to Vegas and almost pulled an all nighter to finish it (I couldn’t wait.)  Oh my gosh I love this book.

And, do you want to hear a true story? I feel like a part of  this book in a teeny tiny way because the summer I graduated from high school I took Improv classes at Columbia College in Chicago and my teacher also taught at The Second City (he still does).

It was also the year Tina Fey was on The Second City Mainstage (with Rachel Dratch, Scott Adsit from 30 Rock, among others) and I used to cat-sit for him when he performed at Renaissance Fairs in Wisconsin. He would leave comp tickets for me at the box office and that summer I saw that show so many times I had it memorized.

She even mentions that year in the book. So see? Also, if you haven’t gathered from my excitement yet, this book is a must-read.

When Did I Get Like This? by Amy Wilson is probably my favorite read in a very long time. (Yes, even more than Bossypants!) If you are a Mom, you must devour this book. Her life is so relate-able, so hilarious, so real. Amy has a flair for taking you there, and then making you feel like everything is going to be okay. You’ll want a few copies of this one because you’re going to be loaning it out to all your friends. (Like I did, so now I have none!)

I’m Down by Mishna Wolff was just recommended to me (I admit, I haven’t bought this book yet but since I already bit into the one I wanted to read on the plane, I’m going to get this one in its place.)

What must-read memoirs should I add to my list?
