Maybe it’s my old age showing (I’m only in my early thirties) but I’ve crossed over to a whole new outlook on getting together with my friends. Instead of waiting until after bedtime to meet up for drinks and appetizers, which can lead to a very late night, we started scheduling breakfast dates.
Truth be told, with busy busy schedules, the first morning we met was mainly because it was the only time we were all available. But then we realized that it’s really genius if you think about it.
- What a great way to start your day- with some of your favorite people other than your family
- It involves coffee!
- Breakfast potatoes (or whatever your favorite breakfast food is)
- You can hang out longer because there is no closing time or babies needing to be fed like your late night meetings
- Pretty much anything you wear is quite acceptable when eating breakfast
- Morning meet-ups are significantly cheaper than dinner!
Do you make breakfast dates?

I enjoy getting to schedule breakfast dates with my friends.
I do make breakfast dates. It is also a much cheaper route to go than cocktails and appetizers.
Intriguing! I have never really done the breakfast out with friends thing….though it does sound cheaper and would be a way to get time in before I want to crash for the day! The only problem is that I am NOT a morning person…though the kids have me up anyway!
What an interesting concept. Life is busy and breakfast is the most important meal of the day … making breakfast a date night is an awesome idea! Thank you!
Ooh, breakfast date! That is a clever idea. I may have to propose this to my mama friends!
I’m a big fan of hosting an early brunch for mom friends–early enough that the little ones aren’t too fussy yet!
Our moms club does a Friday morning breakfast gathering. More moms make it to that than the moms night out once a month.
That is brilliant! I need to remember it.
I definitely do make breakfast dates. My kids usually eat breakfast before we get dressed, but they eat like little hobbits anyway. So by the time we eat out, the kids have second breakfast or “eleven-sies”.
I do love eating breakfast out, although it does kind of put my metabolism in a funk. hard to eat pancakes for lunch and still make it through the day.
what a great idea! Plus you could go to First Watch and have a yummy breakfast even at noon.
i have loved our breakfasting!
