Fun & Easy 4th of July Foods For Kids

July 1, 2011 |  by

The plan for this 4th of July is to hang with my BFF and her family by the pool. There will be lots of kids around so we’re going to make some fun foods for them. BUT, we don’t want to spend all day doing it nor do we, I mean, I possess the culinary skills to pull off an elaborate recipe. So I went looking for some fun and easy 4th of July recipes for kids and here’s what I found courtesy of the Disney Family Fun website:

Red, White & Blue Ice Cream Sandwiches

What you need: About ten minutes. Mini ice cream sandwiches, popsicle sticks and red, white and blue sprinkles. And if you’re feeling really frisky, festive cupcake liners.

What you do: skewer the ice cream sandwiches on the popsicle sticks, dip in sprinkles and enjoy!

Rocket Hot Dogs

What you need:

What you do: Wrap hot dogs in dough, insert skewer and let it protrude at the top. Bake the dogs according to the dough’s instructions. Add a triangle of cheese for a topper and squirt with ketchup and mustard.

Watermelon Stars

What you need: Seedless watermelon, popsicle sticks and a star shaped cookie cutter.

What you do: Use cookie cutter to cut star shapes out of watermelon. Insert popsicle sticks into each star. Put foil on a baking-sheet and cover with another sheet of foil and freeze until firm.
