Since my baby was born you could say I’ve been obsessed with focused on capturing each and every single milestone.
But as a new mom, this hasn’t been easy. Because of course new moms are incredibly busy being, well, new moms. But I’ve still made it my mission to document. To make the time to capture as many important milestones as I can. And I’ve been pretty darn successful.
My secret?
I have my camera on hand at all times. And I mean all times. I don’t go anywhere without it. And I make picture taking a priority.
Whenever I’m with my now eight-month-old, my camera is right by my side or slung over my shoulder. Definitely always within arm’s reach. Just in case. It’s around so much, it’s become like another family member. And my baby is used to it. In fact, I think she even hams it up and poses for me now. And it’s so darn cute.
I’ve captured my baby smiling, laughing, reacting excitedly to her daddy walking in the room, sleeping soundly through the night (my favorite!), taking a bath, rolling over, sitting up, eating solid foods, crawling, pulling up and now, standing.
With so much going on, it can be hard to always remember the camera. Or to feel you have the time to snap pictures while you’re caring for your baby. And of course you don’t need to take a picture of everything. Record the images that are important to you. The milestones that are special to you.
I’m grateful that my mom took a lot of photos of me as a baby. And I love looking back at those now. The same way I know my daughter will love looking back at the images of her.
So throw your camera in your bag wherever you go. And make the time to capture your baby. Because you’ll be glad you did.
