Some family traditions and rituals can be simple in daily occurrence — such as storytime each night before bed. Others are associated with holidays, like singing Christmas carols together on Christmas Eve.
You can establish meaningful rituals and traditions with your family during the holidays all year long. For example, our family used to eat a meal of pork and sauerkraut on New Year’s Day and we always played touch football on Thanksgiving.
Here are some ideas for family traditions that are not associated with any holiday.
- Going for a walk together every evening after dinner.
- Family game night every Friday.
- Pancake breakfast every Saturday.
- Attending worship service every Sunday.
Traditions provide your family with the opportunity to spend time together, while also having a lot of fun.
What are your family traditions? We’d love to hear about them in the comments.
