If your weekends are anything like mine, they are jam-packed with the kids’ sporting events, birthday parties, play dates, you name it. And it can be hard to find time for me. So I decided to come up with a list of fun things I (and you!) can do this weekend–and I only need five minutes to do each one!
Got 5 minutes? Why don’t you…
- Hug and kiss your husband. When was the last time you had a make out session with the hubs? Grab your man and go for it!
- Write a letter. Don’t email! Pull out a piece of paper and write the old fashioned way. The recipient will be amazed!
- Write a love letter. Your husband will be amazed!
- Write a journal entry. I have a stack of diaries on my bedside table that stare me down each night, mocking me for not writing in them. I vow to write something- if only a few sentences.
- Listen to music. Lie on your bed, put in your headphones and listen. Feel yourself instantly relax.
- Stretch. I love stretching. And every time I do it, I think, why don’t I do this more??
- Chat with your child. Tell your child you’re proud of him and why. Ask him to share the highlight of his week. Enjoy an uninterrupted 5 minutes of bonding time.
- Pick some flowers. I always feel better when I have bright colored flowers where I can see them everyday.
- Say thank you. Thank someone who’s done something special for you lately. Maybe it’s by writing a letter (see #2 and #3) or by chatting with your child (see #6) or with a kiss (see #1).
- Swing. Not your child, you! Get on the swing, pump your legs and go. You’ll be amazed at how good it feels.
- Play. Challenge someone to a game of cards, a little one-on-one on the basketball court or a race down the block.
- Eat a bowl of ice cream. Why not? We all deserve it! Don’t forget the cherry on top!
- Research a vacation. I love the planning of a vacay almost as much as the trip itself.
- Laugh. Watch sh*t urban moms say. Or watch crazy model Courtney from The Bachelor get auto-tuned.
- Repeat. Don’t forget to take time for you. Even five minutes is enough to help you focus and relax. Do it again soon!
Have a great weekend!
