Mom Style: Accessorizing

I have a looonnnggg way to go to make it to my mom style goal. In fact, I’m just getting started. One of the main things I have to do is go shopping and update my wardrobe. Is it bad that I have five long black skirts that I rotate regularly? People probably think I wear the same thing every day. And that would be a fair conclusion — I even have two of my favorite skirt.

But I’m going to start simple. Accessories are such an easy way to dress up an outfit. I’m actually great with accessories and I used to wear them regularly, but I need them organized and accessible. Since we moved (and because we had awful packers), they have been in a huge, messy heap on my closet floor. However, this is how I had some of my costume jewelry accessories organized before the moved and this is my goal for the end of the weekend.

It might sound silly, but as a busy mom, I need accessories that are easy to select and easy to put on. I don’t have the extra few minutes to dig through a drawer or mess with a tiny clasp on a bracelet, for example.

When I was in Colorado last year, I discovered Charming Charlie. It was like hitting the great-but-inexpensive accessories jackpot. I spent close to $300 in that single trip to the store, but I came home with bags of great jewelry that I receive lots of compliments on. Charming Charlie should hire me to be a spokesperson because I can’t say enough about it. I didn’t think they had a location in San Diego, but I just hit the website and discovered there are two. While both are a drive for me, I’m putting a trip on my calendar because it’s that fantastic.

This super stylish Linked Together bracelet was recently sent to me by the website AnotniaBee. It meets my clasp requirements and it’s a great statement piece for a great price ($22). When I wear a large bracelet, I usually skip rings other than my engagement ring and wedding bands.

However, I’m also a huge ring fan. I love Banana Republic for great statement rings that are pretty, quality and not too expensive.  Pictured here is the Teardrop Cocktail Ring. A bright and large ring can dress up any outfit. Another type of ring I love is one with a stretchy band. So comfortable and easy to wear.

So, there’s my accessories rundown. My next step is to organize my accessories by the end of the weekend and remember to grab even one each day. Who’s going to hold me accountable?!
