The thought of waking up at the ungodly hour of 3 am to wait with baited breath as the shiny candy apple red Kitchen Aid appliances beckon me through the floor to ceiling windows, simply holds no allure for me. And I'm not alone; based on the responses from so many other real moms to my latest QVC diamond earring giveaway, many of us feel the same about Black Friday we're just not that into it.

Contrary to popular belief, these two words are not interchangeable. Discipline teaches children to learn from their mistakes and enforces the idea that the child is in control of their own behavior. Punishment, on the other hand, actually shifts the focus from the lesson that needs to be learned to who is in control, focusing on the parent being responsible for controlling a child's behavior.
