Over the long Thanksgiving holiday celebration in between eating almost an entire 20 lb. turkey which my husband lovinlgy slaved over and scarfing down half a Marie Callendar pumpkin pie the airwaves, twitter and every talking head was buzzing about the tarnishing of Tiger Woods' squeaky clean family man image. And  I was crestfallen. With so many celebrity marriages falling prey to the ills of adultery I somehow thought his was beyond reproach. So what really happened?

Early Friday when Woods' pulled out of his driveway in his Orlando neighborhood about 2:25 a.m. in a 2009 Cadillac SUV he struck a fire hydrant and then a tree. Allegedly his wife told officers she was in the house when she heard the accident and came out and broke the back window of his car with a golf club.

Before any of us jump to conclusions-- accidents happen-- but this one seems particulalrly odd. I don't know about you but most of us real parents are not getting in our cars and driving off at 2am. This suspicious behavior is coupled with the fact that in recent weeks Tiger has been accused by his wife Elin Nordegren of cheating with another woman, something that is believed to have started the whole ordeal.

Furthermore, police believe that the wounds Tiger sustained were inflicted by his wife  prior to the crash and they’re seeking a warrant to gain access to the emergency room medical records to verify their suspicion.

Woods  has vehemently asseretd  that this accident was his own fault and his wife was merely doing her wifely duites and rushed to his aid. However, the fact that he's refused to be interviewed by the Highway Patrol three times- and  has continually stated that this is a private family matter, begs the question; if you have nothing to hide why are you hiding?

Why am I glued to this sort of salacious scandal? Well, I am fascinated  by celebrities whose spouses are nothing short of perfect, who still engage in adultery. Here I am all four feet 11 inches of me pushing 125 pounds, wishing my body could be as sculpted as Fergie's or my crooked nose could be as romanesque as Elin's and yet-- their looks, their seemingly picture perfect lives and marraiges- well apparently they're just as messy as the rest of us. 

Still I  simply can't conceieve of what would drive a man like Tiger Woods' with a wife- who still retains her former bikini model bod shape- even after two kids- to even contemplate being with another woman.

Infidelity must be much more than skin-deep and complicated, oh so complicated.
